Roles and Permissions

Learn about the different user roles and their permissions in Smart Compensation.

Overview

Different types of users manage the compensation cycle within Smart Compensation, from setting the budget to communicating pay changes. Each user has a specific role with permissions tailored to their responsibilities, ensuring they can effectively manage their part of the compensation workflow.

Access profile permissions

This section defines what each profile allows the user to do.

Admin User

This user has the ability to create and manage cycles, they can:

  • Create pay cycles.
  • View, edit, and share the pay cycles they have access to.
  • Create and assign tasks to managers.
  • Add collaborators.

Global Admin User

This user has the ability to transfer cycle ownership and close cycles.

Manager User

This user can complete compensation tasks they've been assigned to within their hierarchy, they can:

  • View and edit the tasks they are assigned to.
    • If the assigned task has child tasks, they have full rights (view and edit) within those child tasks.
    • They will not be able to see holdback budget.
  • Submit a finished task to admins or managers above them for review.

Support User

This user can be added to tasks by admins to support the manager assigned to the task. They have the same rights as manager users on their assigned tasks. Support users can be assigned to any task, but manager users can only be assigned tasks within their hierarchy.
